Looking Back at the MiXscience Seminar in Côte d’Ivoire: The Key Challenges Shaping the Future of Poultry Farming

On February 4th and 5th, Soproda had the pleasure of participating in the seminar organized by MiXscience in Assinie, Côte d’Ivoire. The event brought together poultry and animal nutrition professionals from Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire.

We would like to warmly thank MiXscience for the invitation, as well as all participants for the quality of the discussions and exchanges throughout these two days.

Beyond the technical presentations, the seminar highlighted some of the major challenges currently facing poultry producers across the region: rising raw material costs, production cost control, improving zootechnical performance, optimizing poultry house environments, and enhancing overall farm profitability

When Every Technical Decision Impacts Performance

In a context where feed costs often account for more than 70% of total production expenses, every technical decision has a direct impact on profitability.

Raw material quality, feed formulation, poultry house climate management, flock management practices, and equipment selection are all key factors influencing both technical performance and financial results.

One of the key takeaways from these discussions was that there is no single solution to improving farm performance. Sustainable success comes from combining best practices and maintaining control over every stage of production

Soproda: More Than an Equipment Supplier

At Soproda, we have long promoted a comprehensive approach to poultry farming.

The success of a poultry operation does not depend solely on the building or the equipment installed. It relies on the entire production ecosystem: chick quality, nutrition, ventilation, water management, manure valorization, farm organization, and technical support.

This is why we support poultry producers across a wide range of areas:

✔️ Poultry house construction and equipment

✔️ Dynamic ventilation systems and environmental control

✔️ On-farm feed production

✔️ Day-old chick supply and delivery

✔️ Poultry manure valorization

✔️ Technical consulting and tailored support for projects of all sizes

Training, Knowledge Sharing, and Field Experience

Participating in events such as this also provides an opportunity to share the lessons learned from the hundreds of projects we have supported across Africa.

The challenges faced by poultry farmers in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, and many other countries are often very similar: reducing feed costs, improving feed conversion ratios, lowering mortality rates, and increasing productivity.

Sharing experiences helps identify practical solutions that truly work in the field while avoiding costly mistakes.

Every discussion with poultry producers is an opportunity to exchange proven methods, practical insights, and concrete solutions for improving farm performance. Feed management, poultry house climate control, production cost optimization, and zootechnical performance are all areas that can have a significant impact on farm profitability.

We strongly believe that the future growth of African poultry farming will depend not only on access to equipment and technologies but also on the dissemination of knowledge and field-proven best practices.

Building the Future of African Poultry Farming Together

Population growth, urbanization, and increasing demand for animal protein are creating exceptional opportunities for the African poultry sector.

Producers who invest in technical expertise, cost optimization, and modern farming practices will gain a significant competitive advantage in the years ahead.

We would like to thank MiXscience once again for organizing this event and for fostering valuable discussions that contribute to the development of poultry farming across West Africa.
