In tropical regions such as Gabon, controlling the environment in poultry farms is a major challenge. High temperatures, high humidity and rapid climate changes can have a direct impact on poultry welfare, fertility and production consistency. Aware of these challenges, we recently renovated a locally built laying breeder house, which was originally open and naturally ventilated.
Strategic renovation adapted to tropical conditions
The renovated building had features typical of local constructions, with natural ventilation through side openings. This type of design ensures a certain amount of air renewal, but does not allow for even temperature distribution or air speeds adapted to the physiological needs of breeding animals, particularly during periods of intense heat.
To overcome these limitations, Soproda installed a tunnel ventilation system designed specifically for tropical climates. This system reduces the perceived temperature by increasing air speed, improves poultry comfort and maintains a uniform air flow.
The installed system includes:
✔️Curtains for air intake controlled by the Vento computer, for precise and automatic control
✔️Sandwich panel false ceiling for laminar air flow in the building
✔️Air extractors to create negative pressure and ensure air velocity, controlled by the Vento computer
✔️Safety curtains that lower automatically in the event of a power cut, to protect the animals and ensure production safety
